Using less electricity with a – Magnetic Induction Stove
We have owned a Magnetic Induction Stove for several years now, but the last two summers we were in the mid-west and it was very hot and humid,
so we started using the Magnetic Induction Stove a whole lot more. We were truly amazed at how much less heat was put out into the RV than when cooking
with the regular stove top or oven, not to mention the added humidity.
With our travels around the country to do our sales at RV Rallies we see different people selling Magnetic Induction Stoves and have noticed that
the price and the wattages vary greatly. Our Magnetic Induction Stove is a Vita Craft 1500 watt that we purchased from Chef Bob Welch who sells HealthCraft
cookware – pots and pans and the induction stoves.
After some inquiries we have found out that the lesser costing Magnetic Induction Stoves have a totally different wattage (usually lower
wattage) and thus take at lot more power and longer to cook things.
We have noticed that when we are preparing stews, soups, casseroles, roasts, or other large items the amount of time to prepare these
things has been greatly reduced. Boiling water for instant coffee or hot chocolate on our gas stove usually takes about
5-6 minutes, with the induction stove it is under 3 minutes and the water is so much hotter.
If you are interested in finding out more contact Chef Bob Welch – with HealthCraft - information below, he really understands how these stoves work and is really
helpful, just tell him that Ken and Paula sent you.

Made in the U S A
Have been trying to be more conscious of what we buy and where it is made. It takes a little more time when shopping but hopefully it will save some American jobs.
There is a website that we check out, if we remember before we go shopping and it helps some. It is: http://stillmadeinusa.com/ It does not cover grocery items – but they do have some items that are specialty food stuffs.
Checking the labels on the items, and reading the barcode helps to determine where an item is from.
Can you differentiate which one is made in the USA , Philippines , Taiwan or China??
Here is a way to tell how… the first 3 digits of the barcode is the country code wherein the product was made.
Barcodes that start with 690, 691 through 695 are all MADE IN CHINA.
You may now refer to the barcode, remember if the first 3 digits is 690-695 then it is Made in China .
Here is a listing of the barcodes and the countries they represent:
00 ~ 13 USA & CANADA
30 ~ 37 FRANCE
40 ~ 44 GERMANY
49 ~ JAPAN
50 ~ UK
57 ~ Denmark
64 ~ Finland
76 ~ Switzerland and Lienchtenstein

Solar Cooked Christmas Dinner
Christmas was a wonderful day to sit back and reflect on the many blessings that we have, our family and friends, and to share with others.
We were invited to have Christmas dinner with our friends from Deming, NM – Allen and Diana Storm, who are here in sunny and warm (70 degrees) Quartzsite for about a month.
Allen and Diana prepared a very delicious spiral cut ham in a Solar Cooker. They put the ham in the cooker at about 10:00 am and it was done and ready to eat by 2:00 pm.
Talk about good - tasty, juicy and delicious. Sure kept the small RV kitchen from getting heated up and utilized one of our wonderful free natural resource – the sun.
Got pictures of the cooker, as well as the information. So will be looking into this intriguing item.
The website listed on the Solar Cooker is: www.solarovens.org
